I've
never been in a pageant before, can I still compete?
Yes!
There is no experience required or necessary.
There is no preliminary competition in my area, can I still
compete?
In areas where
there is no preliminary competition, those titles are
awarded based on eligibility and applications received. This
process is called "competing at-large".
Are there height and weight requirements?
This Oklahoma
International Pageants have no height or weight
stipulations. We know that exceptional women come in all
shapes and sizes. The Oklahoma International Pageants do
showcase the importance of a healthy lifestyle in the
aerobic wear portion of the competition.
What is a platform?
A platform is
a cause or issue that is near or dear to your heart. Each
contestant in the Oklahoma International Pageants will
select a platform which she will spend the year promoting if
selected as an Oklahoma International Titleholder. There is
no right or wrong platform, as long as it's an issue that
you are passionate about.
Can I obtain sponsors to help defray the cost of competing?
Yes!
Sponsors are allowed and encouraged, but not required. Once
you have applied and submitted your application fee, we will
send you our Sponsorship Package loaded with ideas to help
you defray all of your pageant expenses.
If I become a local titleholder, will I receive a crown and
sash?
All local
titleholders receive an official Oklahoma International
embroidered sash reflecting their local title.
Titleholders also have the option of purchasing the official
Oklahoma International local titleholder crown. Purchase of
the crown is completely optional and is not required.
What if I don't have a talent?
No talent is
required. The Oklahoma International Pageants do not have a
talent competition.
What do you wear for the aerobic wear portion of the
pageant?
Each
contestant will wear the
Official State Aerobic wear,
designed specifically for the Oklahoma International
Pageants by
Pumpers. The aerobic wear is worn with plain
white athletic shoes of the contestant's own choosing.
Are ad or
tickets sales required?
There are
no required tickets sales. Each contestant is responsible
for selling one full page program book ad.
Advertising sales go directly towards the printing of the
program book. Many pageants sell their program books for
anywhere from $10 - $25. The Oklahoma International
Pageants do not sell our program books - each pageant
attendee receives a program book at no additional cost. The
sale of advertisements allows us to provide this additional
service.
What is the deadline for entry?
The official
deadline for entry for the 2009 Miss Oklahoma Pageant is
April 4 2009.
What time commitment is involved in being a local
titleholder?
You may devote
as much (or as little) time as you desire, are able, in
regards to promoting your title and making appearances. We
request that each local titleholder make at least one
appearance in their community a month, but this will vary
from contestant to contestant based on each contestant's
individual schedule. We understand that your family and
career commitments come first.
What is Fun Fashion Wear?
The Fun
Fashion Wear portion of the competition is designed to
let each contestant express her own personal sense of
style. Fun Fashion Wear should be something that you may
wear on the red carpet or to a dressy New Year's Eve
party. It's more fun and flirty than an evening gown and
may be a dress, outfit, pants, or even show bare
midriff. It should not be another evening gown or
be jeans. Fun fashion wear must be in good taste and
must be approved by the state office.
